Beneficiary: Samodzielny Publiczny Zakład Opieki Zdrowotnej Wojewódzki Szpital Zespolony im. Jędrzeja Śniadeckiego w Białymstoku
Project Value: PLN 12,299,100.80
Grant UE: PLN 10,454,235.68
Thanks to this investment, the status of the SP ZOZ Regional Hospital in Białystok will increase. This type of equipment, apart from the Białystok hospital, has only two facilities in Poland. Doctors must practice abroad before they operate, and patients treated with a modern surgical robot will feel more comfortable.
The da Vinci surgical robot has been designed to facilitate complicated surgical procedures using the minimally invasive method. The device is used in various fields of surgery, especially in gynaecological or urological procedures. It makes it easier for doctors to perform operations, including surgical procedures, in hard to reach areas of the body.
The robot itself does not operate, because a doctor controls the tools that are placed in the arms of the robot. The doctor uses a special console that stands next to the patient, but can also be set up somewhere else, even in a different building. After an operation using a robot, the patient stays in hospital for up to three days. There is also a lower risk of procedural complications.
The robot is used by the departments of Urological Oncology and General Urology, General Surgery, Lesser-invasive and Oncological Surgery as well as Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department in the regional hospital in Bialystok.
