Project title: Ochrona obszarów Natura 2000 oraz Parku Krajobrazowego Puszczy Knyszyńskiej przed nadmierną presją turystów poprzez budowę infrastruktury służącej aktywnemu wypoczynkowi w otoczeniu zalewu wodnego Czapielówka w Czarnej Białostockiej
Beneficiary: Gmina Czarna Białostocka
Project value: PLN 4,269,266.31
EU grant: PLN 3,488,201.36
Czarna Białostocka gmina has built new infrastructure at the Czapielówka reservoir. The main aim of the project was to protect the Knyszyn Forest Landscape Park and the Knyszyn Forest.
These places have been very popular among tourists for years, hence the need to limit the threats to Natura 2000 areas. The infrastructure protects the biological and natural diversity of these areas. Designating a zone for tourists will protect the valuable natural areas of the Knyszyn Forest. The beneficiary focused primarily on education.
At the viewpoints you can find information boards with useful information on nature protection. There are four areas where tourists can rest, three places for a fire and a hotel for insects. Tourists can observe nature from a wooden lookout tower, and anglers can use three new fishing platforms. The commune also took care of two container toilets, including one for people with disabilities, and six portable toilets. They have also remembered about cyclists.
Almost 2 km long bicycle paths have been created, as well as pavements and parking spaces with a gravel surface.
The value of the projects amounts to PLN 4.3 million, and the co-financing was PLN 3.5 million.
