A new multimedia and book library, a quiet study room with computers, as well as cinema - all this is available in Mediateka in Mońki.
Mediateka was established in the building of a former cinema. The place was modernized as part of the project "Revitalization of public areas in Mońki - stage II", co-financed by the European funds. Thanks to up-to-date computers and software, young people can learn the basics of graphics, film and sound editing. They can learn new programmes and organize game tournaments. What is more, the youth will have the chance to learn coding, which will be conducted by volunteers.
A small cinema room has also been created in Mediateka, which can be used for cultural and science meetings, film screenings or theater performances. There is also a conference room where library training and lectures can take place. The media library will be open longer than the public library, thanks to which young people will have a place to meet and carry out their projects, or simply have a safe haven. The second part of the project included modernization of the city amphitheater in Mońki.
The place was built in the 1970s. Now, thanks to the support of the European funds, it has gained a new, completely rebuilt auditorium. Old wooden seats have been replaced by modern and durable chairs. What is important, it has ensured places for people with disabilities. The project included also lighting the amphitheater and installation of monitoring systems.
