The Church of the Holy Trinity and the former monastery of Congregation of Mission in Tykocin will be renovated, thanks to a grant from the Regional Operational Programme. The Church is a real pearl of baroque architecture. It was built in the middle of 18th century, founded by Jan Klemens Branicki, the then owner of the town. Branicki invited many illustrious artists of his time, to create the beautiful interiors of the Temple.
Many of the antique elements of the interior survived to this day: valuable baroque altars, organ, paintings and partially polychrome. Nowadays the Temple is still a place of worship and one of the most recognizable monuments in Podlaskie Voivodship. There are many cultural events, that take place in the Church e.g. music festivals, film screenings, exhibitions.
The project will include renovation and conservation of the antique interior, installation of monitoring and safety system, as well as illumination of the Church. The crypt, which is a burial place for donors of the parish, will also be renovated and opened to visitors. The beneficiary will also create a museum, where antique chasubles and liturgical vessels will be presented. The area around the Church will be arranged and facilities for the disabled will be installed. Moreover, the grant will allow to create a mobile application, which will act as a tourist guide.
