Project title: Skarbiec dziedzictwa kulturowego
Beneficiary: Książnica Podlaska im. Łukasza Górnickiego w Białymstoku
Project value: PLN 1,439,001.57
EU grant: PLN 896,085.54

The aim of the project was to make the resources of the Podlaskie Library available to wider audience, including people with disabilities. One of the main tasks was to protect old prints against the destructive effects of time and environmental conditions. For this purpose, a special chamber was purchased for fumigation and decontamination of books. The library also managed to buy a vacuum cleaner and a specialized scanner for digitizing collections. As part of the project, ten old prints, which were in the worst condition, were renewed.

The project also included the Library building. One of the rooms of the so-called the treasury has been adapted to store the most valuable collections. Five special showcases were purchased. It allows the library to safely exhibit the collections. There is also an audiovisual room in which meetings and workshops can be organized. In addition, part of the building was adapted to the needs of people with visual impairment. There are information boards and overlays on the handrails with Braille markings. Sounded, convex plans of the building were also prepared.
