The Cardiology Department of the Regional Hospital in Bialystok gained high-class medical equipment. The new angiograph will be used in the treatment of cardiac diseases, which are among the most common causes of death. The hospital has implemented the EU project concerning, among others modernization of cardiac and cancer treatment of the urinary tract. The main goal of the project was the purchase of an angiograph with equipment supporting its operation and modernization of the existing laboratory in the cardiology department. It is the most modern equipment that meets the international criteria.
The angiograph is used to visualize the coronary arteries, which helps to decide how to treat patients. The new equipment, will be used for the so-called acute cardiology. The purchase of the angiograph is the main and the most expensive part of the investment, but not the only one.
As part of the project, the hospital also purchased other equipment, including respirators, infusion pumps, defibrillators. This equipment will go to the Department of Cardiology with the Division of Invasive Cardiology and Intensive Cardiac Supervision, to the Cardiology Clinic, as well as to the Department of Oncology and General Urology. Each year, the department of cardiac surgery performs about 800 procedures.
The Hospital implements two more investments co-financed from the Regional Operational Program 2014-2020.
